MooreWrap Training Academy

After high school, a shy, young lady started modeling in her hometown of Washington, DC and her first "print-job" was for renowned Fashion Editor Nina Hyde of The Washington Post. After a few years in DC, Mertine was personally hired by Wilhelmina of Wilhelmina Models Intl. and moved to New York City.

Mertine also worked with Essence Magazine as a Fashion Stylist. Through this experience, she was exposed to many talented designers. Before she knew it, she was representing designers! TDG Designer's Goldfinger was incorporated 1980.

Fast forward many years. God gave this lady a vision of MooreWrap, a jumpsuit, dress or gown that could be wrapped "Moore" ways. Local seamstresses created the initial MooreWrap garments and a big order arrived from Peru.

A lightbulb went off!

Why not train more people to create MooreWrap? Jobs are what’s needed. We got the talent. God, in His Majesty, reintroduced the world to the talented seamstresses and tailors through creating masks during the pandemic. And Lord knows we need to create our own jobs. Come take this journey with MooreWrap Training Academy.

MooreWrap is inviting you to participate with us in our MooreWrap Kickstarter Marketing Campaign as we build MooreWrap Training Academy and identify potential trainees.

Mission

MooreWrap is MADE IN AMERICA

At MooreWrap, our commitment to American craftsmanship runs deep. For too long, the fashion industry has relied on overseas production, resulting in high costs and lengthy lead times. Inspired by visionary designers like Donna Karan and Norma Kamali, TDG is reshaping the narrative by bringing manufacturing back home. This photo of a Bangladese factory haunts me every time I see it.

TDG journey began with a vision to create meaningful job opportunities right here in the DMV. The initial prototypes of MooreWrap were lovingly crafted by talented local seamstresses, ensuring top-notch quality control at every step. But our mission extends beyond fashion—it's about empowerment and social justice.

As a Black owned business, we understand the importance of supporting our community. That's why a portion of our proceeds goes towards aiding women affected by domestic violence and reintegrating returning citizens into society. We believe in reparations and strive to address the systemic inequalities that have plagued Black Americans for generations.

In the face of adversity, we're guided by the words of Bryan Stevenson, Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative & author of JUST MERCY book & film, the opposite of POVERTY is JUSTICE.

Through the MooreWrap Kickstarter funding campaign, we invite you to join us in building the MooreWrap Training and Sewing Academy, where aspiring seamstresses and tailors will receive the training they need to succeed.

Dreams can be transformative, and we're here to make them a reality. With your support, we can create a future where talent and determination triumph over adversity. Together, let's sow the seeds of change and empower our community to thrive. Join TDG Designer’s Goldfinger on this journey as we redefine fashion and champion equality for all.
